Christmas is the End of the Beginning
Click to listen to Chris Wright’s sermon titled “Christmas is the End of the Beginning.” It was originally preached on December 27, 2015, at All Souls Church, Langham Place, in London.
As our thoughts center around the birth of Christ this season, Chris reminds us Jesus is not just at the center of the Bible story, he is at the beginning and the end:
“Why does Matthew start his book, his gospel, the very first book of the New Testament, telling us the greatest story ever told, the story of Jesus of Nazareth, by going back through these generations of the Old Testament story? Well, basically because Matthew is saying to us look, if you want to understand Christmas, even more importantly, if you want to understand Jesus himself, then you have to see Him as the end of a journey that began way back in the Old Testament Scriptures. He comes as part of this story, Matthew is telling us. In fact, it is very important for us to be reminded that the whole Bible is one whole single story with a beginning and an end and Jesus Christ right at the very center. Although actually He is also at the beginning and at the end, as we shall see. One whole story. . . “
