Pastors in the global church lack biblical training

A Langham Preacher’s Club meets in Runyenjes, Africa, to encourage and mentor one another.

. . . And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”. -2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)

The church in the majority world is growing, yet many pastors lack the biblical training they need to faithfully and confidently preach the gospel. That leaves hundreds of thousands of believers spiritually hungry and in danger of false teaching.

Your gift to the 2 Timothy 2:2 Project will help Langham pastor the pastors by providing critical biblical training, training materials and ongoing mentoring to 500 preachers, bringing the hope of the Gospel to as many as 50,000 people in 17 countries over the next 6 weeks.

Newly trained pastor Peter Mwaw, of Africa Brotherhood Church in Katani, Kenya, shares God’s Word with his congregation.

Langham teaches pastors how to study and teach God’s Word

In nearly 50 countries around the world, Langham builds and sustains biblical preaching movements by facilitating a three-year training process that first teaches pastors how to study and understand God’s Word for themselves. Instruction is practical, with a focus on preparing and delivering relevant, biblically sound sermons. Between trainings, local preaching clubs are established so that pastors can meet regularly to practice together and encourage one another. Today, there are over 500 preaching clubs around the world that provide ongoing mentoring—truly a movement of faithful preaching.

And all it takes is $80 to equip one pastor. That’s one pastor who may otherwise not receive any formal biblical training. Your gift today can help them rightly handle God’s Word.

Your gift will multiply disciples around the world

Even a one-time gift can be multiplied into a lasting legacy of disciple making. Langham-trained preacher Peter Mwaw, pastor of AfricaBrotherhood Church in Katani, Kenya, began preaching from the Scriptures to show how the truth of the Gospel applies to local issues. After hearing messages on Christ’s love, the church became more engaged, reaching out to orphans and sharing God’s Word with their neighbors. As a result, the small, rural community has been transformed.

“Katani is a new place. The Word of God has penetrated the area.” –Shadrack

“New people are coming to Christ! The preaching is bringing people into the Kingdom.” -Dorcas

500 trained pastors can move 50,000 people closer to Christ

Peter Mwaw is just one example of how the ministry of one trained pastor can multiply out to impact an entire community with God’sWord. Five hundred pastors able to present the gospel clearly and effectively can mentor as many as 50,000 disciples for Christ. Will you join us and prayerfully consider a gift today to train 1, 5, 10, or more of these pastors?
