Faith lived out in flood-hit Pakistan

Langham Scholar Hazeem* helps his people love and serve the vulnerable in Pakistan.

When you support theological training for a Langham Scholar, the impact of their PhD extends beyond the walls of the seminaries and churches where they lead. They serve in places where the church is in poverty and under pressure, and often find themselves ministering in the midst of turmoil. Because of their training, they are poised to respond.

*Hazeem is one of these leaders. With support from Langham and you, he received his PhD and returned home to Pakistan, where he heads up a seminary and leads Langham’s pastor training movement. During the height of the COVID pandemic, he mobilized his team to deliver practical aid to more than 3,000 affected families. He shared, “As followers of Christ, I believe we should share His love by helping the deprived ones.”

Now, as Pakistan is in the midst of one of the heaviest rainy seasons in more than a decade, Hazeem and his team are putting theology into practice by coordinating a relief effort to help families devastated by flooding in recent weeks.

Reaching 1,000 families

Hazeem aims to provide 1,000 families with food packs, mosquito nets, and hygiene kits, and distribution has already begun in Sindh and Southern Punjab.  He shares, “Our campaign is going on in different affected areas. We are doing it with the help of local pastors and our coordinators. Please continue to remember this in your prayers.”

On behalf of the global church, thank you for your continued prayers and support for God’s people living in hard places. Because of you, this year Langham is supporting theological studies for 98 scholars-in-training. Like Hazeem, when they graduate they will return to their nations equipped to train others, serve the vulnerable, and model the love of Jesus where it’s needed most.

Since June, more than 1,400 people have been killed by horrendous flooding in Pakistan.
