Join John Stott and help train and equip the global church.
John Stott believed the church thrives when pastors are rooted in God’s Word. But in his travels around the world, he saw most pastors didn’t have access to training or resources. In 1969, he founded Langham Partnership to equip these leaders, giving up his own book royalties to get things started.
Today, Langham continues that mission in 130+ countries, training pastors, supporting churches and seminaries and raising up biblical leaders. Your gift carries Stott’s vision forward — strengthening the global church through the power of God’s Word.
80% of pastors around the world lack any formal training.
Christianity is spreading rapidly across Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. In fact, 69% of the world's Christians today live outside of the West. That growth, however, has created a crisis — a leadership chasm that threatens the depth of the global church.
In the absence of faithful, clear and relevant teaching, believers are vulnerable to false, irrelevant and stagnant teaching. The result? A church that is ill-equipped to grow to maturity in Christ and to fulfill its mission as salt and light in a broken world.
The challenge we now face is to ensure that these growing Christian communities are shepherded by trained pastors that can help them grow in their faith and multiply disciples.
The global church needs trained leaders.
A church in poverty
There are very few books available in local languages that are relevant to the context and faithful to the Bible. New believers lack access to the Scriptures while pastors have little or no training, often because they cannot afford it.
A church under pressure
God’s people are under threat due to religious hostility and violence or from regional conflicts and civil wars.
A church full of potential
Doors are opening to the gospel in many countries, and strengthening the ministry of God’s Word contributes to the health and maturity of the church in hard soil.
“We must be global Christians with a global vision because our God is a global God.”
– John Stott
How we train leaders for the global church:
We equip scholars
Langham funds PhD scholarships and shepherds emerging theological leaders, preparing them for a lifetime of ministry to train others and shape nations. Langham stays connected to these game-changing leaders in ways that maximize their kingdom impact.
We publish literature
Langham provides Majority World pastors, scholars and seminary libraries with evangelical books and electronic resources. Langham also fosters the creation of game-changing Bible commentaries and other culturally relevant books by indigenous writers and publishers in their own languages and for their own contexts.
We train pastors
Langham trains pastors and lay leaders to preach God’s Word with clarity, faithfulness and relevance and exhorts them to be people of conviction and character. We raise up local pastor trainers who advance the work by training others.
God's Word changes lives.
Dr. Rico Villanueva received his PhD with support from Langham, and today he uses training to write resources to help pastors understand the Bible and apply it in the Filipino context. Rico also trains pastors at a seminary in Manila to better understand and teach God's Word. Through the multiplicative ministry of one equipped leader like Rico, thousands of lives are being shaped by the Gospel throughout Southeast Asia.
Equip more leaders like Rico.
Your support helps train pastors, provide theological education, and publish culturally relevant biblical resources in more than 130 countries around the world, ensuring that growing churches are deeply rooted in God's Word. Join us in strengthening the global church — because every church deserves a well-trained pastor.
