REQUEST FOR PRAYER — NAIROBI WESTGATE MALL ATTACK, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2013
Dear friends of Langham,
Last night I heard from Dr. Gladys Mwiti, a Langham Scholar serving on the frontlines in Nairobi, Kenya. Dr. Mwiti is founder and CEO of Oasis Africa, a counseling center with more than 20 certified counselors. Dr. Mwiti is a world-renowned specialist in trauma counseling. Below is an excerpt of the letter she sent. Would you join me in praying for a peaceful conclusion to this crisis and that Dr. Mwiti, her staff and other Langham Scholars and Langham-trained pastors can be lights in this dark time to the glory of God.
Together in Christ,
Benjamin K. Homan

REQUEST FOR PRAYER — NAIROBI WESTGATE MALL ATTACK, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2013
Greetings from Nairobi. We are sure that you have read about this disaster, the worst since the Nairobi USA bombing of 1994. By this evening, 68 are dead and 150 or so injured. The kidnappers are still holed up in the Mall with hostages.
Today, I spent the whole day organizing a psychological crisis response. We briefed and deployed over 80 psychologists and counselors under the Red Cross and the Kenya Psychological Association on which I am Chairman.
We begin again at 8 am tomorrow morning to train and deploy more. We thank God that we have the history of experience and expertise on our part to know how to prepare a major response. This section of the City is a beehive of activity as can be understood but we are peaceful and orderly as we assist those who need an intervention. A sad affair but Kenya is united as one and we’ll go over it safely.
Please keep praying. The body count is going up and the hostage situation still on. Pray for the affected, their families, the professional teams, our Nation and our President and his team.
Pray also for resources both for Oasis Africa and the Kenya Psychological Association to be able to support the outreach. It may run for several months.
Note: Our key Dailies — The Daily Nation and the East African Standard are on You Tube. You may want to bring yourself up to date on the happening. Check also BBC and CNN
God bless you and yours.
Gladys Mwiti
